Mark Hagy has taught History at the A. Linwood Holton Governor’s School since 2000. His classes are Western Civilization I & II, World Civilization I & II, and Appalachian History. A native of Washington County, Virginia, Mr. Hagy earned his BA from Emory & Henry College (1992) and his MA in History from Miami of Ohio (1994). Mr. Hagy’s primary area of research is the early American Republic, with an emphasis on social and religious history. In addition to his duties at the Governor School, Mr. Hagy teaches as an adjunct at Virginia Highlands Community College. Mr. Hagy’s interests include reading, bad puns, obscure words and corny jokes.
